Sarah had been studying hard all day and decided to take a break by attending the Late Show with Fr. Bouck. It was there that she met Kyle through a mutual friend. Kyle had just started at UMary that semester. Sarah's first impression of Kyle was that he was funny and good-looking. Meanwhile, Kyle couldn't help but notice Sarah's smile and her sassy demeanor. Quickly they realized that their older siblings were friends when they attended UMary, adding connection between them. They hit it off with laughter and conversation, and by the end of the evening, both Sarah and Kyle were left wondering if they would have another chance to meet.
For a whole year, Kyle and Sarah exchanged the occasional text message and they would often bump into each other unexpectedly, adding a touch of serendipity to their budding connection. Movie nights and meals at the Crows Nest Campus Restaurant became cherished moments in their friendship. Kyle, with all the subtlety of a trumpet solo, tried to make his moves on Sarah, who was about as clueless as a drumstick trying to play the piano. Eventually, Sarah caught on when Kyle asked to get lunch. After a series of hilarious scheduling mishaps, they finally settled on Tuesday at 2:00pm. This regular lunch date became their weekly sitcom, with food mishaps and awkward moments that could rival any rom-com. It was at one of their Tuesday lunches, on March 7th to be exact, that they became official!
It just so happened that on the weekend of their one year anniversary, Kyle and Sarah took a trip to Sterling Virginia for his grad school interview (spoiler alert: he got in!). Kyle decided this trip was the perfect time to pop the question so he made dinner reservations for after the interviews. The interviews ended earlier than Kyle had anticipated, so with two hours to spare, they decided to explore the area. Turns out, there wasn't much to explore and they ended up walking three miles up a highway to get to the restaurant. Sarah found this to be an exciting adventure and was just thrilled the interviews were over. Kyle was wondering how he could possibly propose with all his plans falling apart! They eventually made it to the restaurant and had a picture perfect dinner! As the evening progressed, Kyle's nerves started to surface. He had planned to propose during a romantic evening walk, but Sarah, tired from their earlier walk, said she would prefer not to. With all the unexpected twists and turns, Kyle decided that tonight was not the night. Back at the hotel, Kyle started randomly staring at the wall, obviously thinking deeply about something. Sarah, noticing his distracted state, repeatedly asked about his thoughts. Kyle, trying to maintain the element of surprise, brushed off her questions. However, Sarah's persistence led Kyle to realize that she was onto his plans. Deciding to seize the moment, Kyle grabbed his grandmother's ring from his suit jacket and proposed to Sarah. Sarah immediately accepted Kyle's proposal. The next day, they walked around Washington DC, basking in the glow of their newfound engagement, making plans, calling family to share the news, and savoring every moment of their time in Virginia.
After getting married, Sarah and Kyle will be moving to Virginia. Kyle will be attending Divine Mercy University in pursuit of his doctorate in clinical psychology. He is starting school in the fall right after the wedding!
