FAQs

The Wedding Website of Taylor McKenzie and Ben Mortenson
We are so excited to welcome you all to Kiawah Island and celebrate our marriage. If you have any questions, please reach out.
Question

What should I know about the Welcome Cocktail Reception?

Answer

Join us for cocktails and dessert, and to say hi to Ben and Taylor the night before the wedding! The Welcome Cocktail Reception is from 8 - 10 pm at the Marsh House, Kiawah Island, South Carolina. Parking is available on-site. All are welcome! Please note this event is outside. Attire: Island Cocktail (fun, festive, cocktail attire that is weather suitable! Please come as you are.)

Question

What is the transportation for the wedding?

Answer

We will have 3 buses heading to centralized locations on the island. Each van will have Mortenson/McKenzie Wedding signs, and should be taking you to the River Course. Please be ready promptly at 4 pm for the shuttles. They will be making their rounds one time. Andell Inn (Parking Lot) Cougar Point Clubhouse (Parking Lot) Night Heron Park (Sea Forest Dr.) Tennis Court Villas (Roy Barth Tennis Center) Surfsong / Doral Open Surfsong /Glen Abbey Flyway / Bufflehead Dr Governor Dr/ Trumpet Creeper Governor Dr / Persimmon Ct There is also ample parking at the River Course if you would prefer to drive yourself. Vans will be available 1 hour before send-off and at the conclusion of the wedding to help get guests home. Please note that Ubers do not frequently circle around Kiawah Island, so we do not suggest relying on them. The island is very walkable but will be dark at night, and the safety of our guests is truly important to us!

Question

Is there a dress code for the wedding?

Answer

Yes! We would love to see our friends and family dressed up to celebrate with us. Our dress code is formal, black tie optional for our ceremony and reception.

Question

I'm not staying on Kiawah Island, is that okay?

Answer

Yes, it is totally fine to not stay on the island. Nearby places to stay include Seabrook, Johns Island, Folly Beach or even Charleston ( please keep in mind traffic as there is only one way into Kiawah). Kiawah Island is a gated community, however you will be on a list at the gate to be able to get into the island for the Welcome Reception and the Wedding. If you want to come onto the island before or after your stay, please email Taylor at tkmckenzie18@gmail.com, and we can get you a guest pass.
