How We MetHow We Met

A PERFECT MATCH | PHOENIX, ARIZONA | DECEMBER, 2015

We like to say we're a tinder success story. We both swiped right in October of 2015, and locked each other down on December 22nd, 2015. I (McKenzie) invited him to a bonfire in December of 2015 and knew that this man who was staring at the fire was someone who was going to be an important part of my life. Fast forward 10 years, and he's become the absolute most important person in my world. Since then, we've traveled to beautiful destinations together, built incredible friendships, grown with each other and encourage each other to be the best version of ourselves each and every day. With 3,721 days of adventure from the "yes" to being boyfriend and girlfriend to the "I do", we can't contain our excitement to discover what (and literally where) the rest of our lives will take us. And we're honored to have you here to celebrate that with us.

A Magical ProposalA Magical Proposal

JANUARY 18, 2025

Devin woke me up on that Saturday morning and said he felt like going on a date. I was exhausted, but thankfully I didn't tell him "no" like I wanted to. A day that went down in history: the final day of TikTok... I cried all morning about the ban, moping around the house feeling sorry for myself. Devin begged me to just get in the shower. Reluctantly, I finally did. As if it wasn't enough pressure on him that day, I also forced him to pick my outfit; my engagement outfit. After doing my makeup, he was ushering me out the door to get to our surprise destination as quickly as possible. He wouldn't tell me where we were going, but I thought something was up when he didn't say something sarcastic about me blasting Taylor Swift in the car. Finally, once we were pulling off the highway onto Jefferson, he jokingly told me that we were going to the state capitol. Surprised, I said, "You know there's a protest going on there, right?" He must have panicked, because he immediately said, "I'm just kidding. I'm taking you to Disney on Ice." I hadn't been to Disney on Ice since I was little, so I immediately broke out into a huge smile. But when I turned back to look at him, tears were streaming down his face. Weird, right? We walked into the Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix, and he wouldn't intermittently crying. Here I am, walking around with a grown man thinking I've just discovered he's been a closeted Disney adult. I get it, I love Disney too, but DUDE, get it together.... We walked to our seats on the lower level and settled in for a magical show. At intermission, he told me we were going to go get food. I was surprised, because we still had half a bag of Wetzel's Pretzels. He says that we're going to the 2nd level because they have the best food, so I follow behind him. Finally, we get upstairs and he says we can throw away the pretzels since we're getting new food.... Um, NO, we still have food, just eat it. So I force him to sit down and finish the pretzels with me. I've never felt so rushed to swallow food so quickly. We finish the pretzels, and he stands up and leads me to one of the halls leading towards the 2nd level seats. Then, he turns to me with tears flooding his cheeks and chokes out the words, "Your friends and family are all here..." I turned to see my mom standing up screaming, and then my ears started ringing. I turned back to see Devin on one knee, and felt like I was going to puke, then blacked out. Turns out, I dropped to my knees, with the first immediate words I could even say were, "no f*cking way" (of course I was going to say yes, I just couldn't believe it was happening). I was so in shock, I forgot to say "yes" until Devin just stared at me, still on his knees, and said "...soooo?" It was absolutely perfect, and no- we didn't watch the 2nd half of the show.
