Their love story began in 2005 when they met in elementary school in Mrs. Allen’s second-grade class. Ragiana had always had an eye for McKenzie, and while in second grade, she asked him, “Do you like me?” McKenzie swiftly responded, “As a friend!” Ragiana’s heart was shattered as she experienced her first heartbreak. Years went by, and while the two were enrolled at Stephen F. Austin Middle School, they became acquaintances. It wasn’t until high school that they became extremely close. McKenzie and Ragiana both attended Memorial High School, and after years of being good friends, they became best friends in the 11th grade. During their senior year of high school, they were inseparable. Wherever you saw McKenzie, you saw Ragiana, and vice versa. Because of their closeness, many of their peers suspected they were dating. McKenzie and Ragiana both denied it for a very long time until the middle of their senior year, when they decided to play along with the suspicions. Instead of denying the “Are y’all dating?” questions, they started saying yes to anyone who asked. During several events throughout their senior year, McKenzie and Ragiana grew even closer. The feelings were there, but neither of them knew how to express them. That changed when they attended a mutual friend’s graduation party, where Ragiana overheard her cousin, who was the same age as them, flirting with McKenzie. The next morning, Ragiana felt the urge to text McKenzie and tell him how she felt. On June 8, 2016, they decided to embark on a new journey together as boyfriend and girlfriend and begin dating exclusively. Summer 2016 was amazing for the new couple. Even though they attended different colleges, they made sure to spend as much time together as they could. After five years of dating, McKenzie proposed to Ragiana on February 13, 2021, at the Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park. McKenzie and Ragiana will be getting married on June 26, 2022.
