Question

Why am I only invited to the temple exit and not the wedding?

Answer

We have chosen to be married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. This is where our parents were married and several of our siblings. This temple has a lot of meaning to our family. Our marriage is also a "Sealing Ceremony" for "Time and All Eternity". A temple sealing is a sacred ceremony in a beautiful room. Mirrors hang on both walls that symbolize eternity. There is no procession inside the temple. We have reserved a sealing room that can only accommodate 64 people. Patrons must hold a current temple recommend to attend. You must be a member of the LDS church, meet certain requirements, and also be graduated from high school. We both have younger siblings who will not be able to attend our marriage sealing. This may seem strange to you. It is not meant to exclude important family members. It is just a very small, sacred, reverent and quiet ceremony for those that qualify to attend and understand its significance. There will be many people who have a temple recommend to attend but still might not be invited due to seating capacity limits. Please know that we appreciate your support inside or outside the temple. We both have a lot of family members that we love so much and we will have to make difficult decisions on who comes into the temple due to limited seats. For others who do not attend the sealing we understand that you may have come a long way to celebrate with us. There are many other events that are more traditional and customary. Whether you are invited inside the temple or not, we welcome everyone to enjoy the beautiful and sacred temple grounds and to participate in the exciting and celebratory moment when we exit the temple in our traditional wedding clothes. There will be no music, but cheering is customary and acceptable.
