Over the past year, Joe and McKenzie have been exploring Denver’s vibrant restaurant scene—and they’ve found some gems worth sharing. Joe’s favorite? Jack’s on Pearl for its cozy atmosphere and standout dishes. McKenzie fell in love with the creative, seasonal menu at Wildflower. Other favorites include the elevated comfort food at Officers Club, the romantic charm of La Forêt, the stylish vibe at The Regular, and the Peruvian flavors at The Red Llama.
Visit Golden, Colorado — the place where Joe and McKenzie first met while attending the Colorado School of Mines. This charming town is full of character and great food, with local favorites like Woody’s, Café 13, Bonfire Burrito, and Table Mountain Inn. Take a stroll through the Mines campus or along the scenic Clear Creek Trail. In the summer, if conditions are right, Golden becomes a hotspot for river tubing and outdoor fun.
Colorado is a beer lover’s paradise—with over 450 breweries to explore! We highly recommend stopping by at least one while you're here. Max Taps is McKenzie’s go-to spot for trivia nights, but there’s something for everyone. Check out popular craft breweries like Denver Beer Co. or Breckenridge Brewery, or go local with favorites like Golden City Brewery, IC Brewhouse, Resolute Brewing, or one of the many hidden gems nearby.
For outdoor lovers, Colorado is full of breathtaking places to explore. We highly recommend visiting one of the state’s many parks or open spaces during your stay. Just 10 minutes from the hotels, Cherry Creek State Park offers a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city. In Jefferson County—where Joe and McKenzie have lived since their days at Mines—you’ll find dozens of scenic parks like North Table, South Table, White Ranch, and Deer Creek Canyon Park. If you're up for a short drive into the mountains, explore stunning state parks such as Roxborough, Staunton, Golden Gate Canyon, and Eldorado Canyon. For a bigger adventure, Rocky Mountain National Park and Great Sand Dunes National Park are just a few hours away. Keep in mind: Memorial Day weekend is a popular time to visit, so parks may be crowded and reservations may be required for National Parks. Plan ahead to make the most of your outdoor adventure!
Venalonzo’s is Joe’s go-to lunch spot—and for good reason. Voted the best tacos in all of Denver, this hidden gem is a must-try. Joe recommends the torta or the quesabirria (you won’t regret it!).
Red Rocks is an incredible destination, whether you're driving through or exploring one of the many scenic trails that wind through the area.
Colorado is home to more 14ers (peaks over 14,000 feet) than any other state! If you have a few days to acclimate, consider hiking one of these iconic mountains. Mount Bierstadt is a popular choice for beginners—though it's still more challenging than your average trail. For a less strenuous way to enjoy the views from the top of the world, both Pikes Peak and Mount Blue Sky offer scenic drives all the way to their summits.
