Drayton and I first met at our home church the early spring/summer of 2015. We did not really get to know one another until later that summer when we would take a trip to Flordia for an aligator hunting trip with some of our family. During this trip we began talking and learning more about one another as just acquaintances. Our hunting trip would come to an end early than planned due to an incoming hurricane. Returning to Tennessee, home sweet home having exsperiencing a trip of a life time and now as what we consitered friends. School had started back and summer was coming to an end. Drayton and I continued talking and that friend ship grew. Fall time soon came and after a few more group gatherings together and dinners grabbed with mutual friends. We had grew to constantly messaging and talking to one another during these months. We would start dating at the end of September that same year. Now right over 6 years here we are becoming husband & wife among family and freinds on October 16, 2021.
To say the least; plans never go quite as planned, but thats part of the memories! December of 2019 we had planned a short trip to Gatlinburg to see all the Christmas lights. Noah and Brittany had joined us on the trip and we had a little cabin rented. Unfortantly after only a day and half on our trip Drayton had become quite sick with what we thought was a stomach bug or maybe food posioning. I had never seen him quite this sick before and being away from home made it even worse on him. As time went on that 2nd and 3rd day things got much worse and Dray found him self in the ER. An evening that was supose to be spent on the Sky Bridge after a nice dinner all togther was quickly turned around. At the time I had no idea of what our day was supose to have looked like, and never would have known that Dray was going to be purposing to me. Having recieved some fluids and medication Dray was feeling better enough just in time to head home from our trip. Our trip didn’t go as planned, but that was okay. Life goes on and everyone was back to the normal gride of things at home. One week later Dray would put togther another trip to what I believed to just see the Christmas lights at Cheekwood on December 21st of 2019. Noah and Brittany were able to join us on this trip as well! Beautiful as ever with lights stung from every inch of the property, we were ending the trip with visiting their magnificently large ball of mistletoe hung from the Historical Cheekwood Mansion. Capturing the moment with what I thoght was just a picture turned into Drayton getting down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Completly shocked and beyond thrilled I said “Yes” of course! Taking in the special moment with Drayton we enjoyed the Christmas lights and were beyond greatful for one another.
