and

McKenzie Eggers

July 1, 2022

Sandy, UT

First Date

2.12.14

From Cameron’s journal... "I took a girl named McKenzie out last weekend. We went to Koreatown and had authentic Korean food (beef spleen, beef intestine, etc.), then went to an awesome multi-story driving range with a great view of downtown L.A. After dinner, to my dismay, the restaurant only took cash, so I had to run to an ATM. I left my cell with McKenzie so she could surf the web and not be so bored. A day or two later, I found a note she left in my phone. 'Hey future-Cameron, it's past-McKenzie. I'm just chilling while you are getting cash. Soup was darn good. Even the tripe ;) I'm looking forward to the driving range where I will make a complete fool of myself. That will be interesting. Secret: I think you're really cute. Shhh, don't tell anyone! Guilty pleasure: I watch an embarassing amount of Korean dramas. I'm seriously loving listening to the people here. Oh, you're back' That note melted my heart, I'll definitely keep taking her out."

Reconnection

11.29.20

From McKenzie's journal... "A month or so ago, I matched on Mutual app with someone I know from LA. Actually, I went on some dates with Cameron when I lived in LA... Over the past few weeks, I've gone on several dates with Cameron and it's been lovely. He's such a positive, kind person. It's also been so easy with him. I'm super comfortable around him and there's great chemistry... [*cough* *cough*...skipping ahead] We spent a lot of time together when I first got to Utah this week and then he had a trip to move his stuff from NYC... So he'll be in Utah for a while, and I'll be in Utah for a while, and I'M CALLING IT NOW. I think this relationship is going to be special. I can see this working out long term and for real being an amazing romance. I don't know about marriage. Maybe. But Cameron is something special and I hope this becomes something serious."

Proposal

4.11.22

McKenzie: I had just moved into the new house, and Cameron told me he was taking me out to a nice dinner. He had recently talked to my parents and we had been ring shopping a few times, so I was suspicious that he might propose. Cameron: She told me "no big decisions until after the move". M: When we got to the restaurant, Tuscany, it was WAY fancier than I expected. By then I was like, "he is definitely proposing"... then as we walked in, he told me to order whatever I wanted because this dinner was to celebrate me buying my house. I was a little disappointed, to say the least. C: It was pouring rain that night, so my plans of proposing outside before dinner were ruined. So while we waited to be seated, we wandered around and I tried to find a decent place inside, but didn't find any good spots. M: Dinner was really good (the brussel sprouts! Mmmmmm!), and even though it was just to celebrate the house, I was really happy to be there, and we had a good time. C: Dinner was really good. But I was still hoping the weather would clear up so I could take her out to the courtyard to propose. But I noticed about halfway through dinner that the rain had turned into a huge snow storm...in APRIL. M: We were waiting for the valet to bring the car around, and I was thinking "wow, he really isn't proposing tonight..." C: Even with the big thick snowflakes coming down, this was happening. So, I said I wanted to show her something and took her around to the empty courtyard. M: Now I'm thinking it might be happening... and Cameron told me to pose as he took a picture of me in the wet snow. (It was not a cute look). C: She looked so cute! I had prepared something to say and then knelt down in the slush and pulled out the ring. M: The box the ring was in had a built in LED light, so when he opened it, the light hit the diamond and then bounced right into my face. Instead of being cute and cool, I think I just said "Oh my GOSH, that is so BRIGHT!" and squinted as I was blinded. Obviously, then I said yes. C: Obviously.
