College is a time for learning, growth, and finding out who you are! For us, it was also about finding each other. Being that we had the same major and minor for our Bachelor's degree, we were basically destined to meet. It was a week or so into classes of Fall term that Caleb sat by me one day in class. He was way too handsome for me to talk to right away!! But since we had several mutual friends, the talking began, and the first date happened soon after! Dinner and a horror movie was the classic first date choice. I would not find out for months that he HATED scary movies!! That is love. After that, the rest was history!
Soon after I moved to Utah for grad school, Caleb came to visit me and we spent an amazing, long day in Park City exploring! Later in the early evening, he wanted me to go meet a good friend of his, saying that she had a really fun, short hike we could all do before it got dark! Let me preface by saying, I am not much of a hiker at all. I was tired from the long day we already had, I had a headache, and I was not in a great mood (poor guy!!!). BUT I was excited to meet his friend so we went on our way. When we arrived at the spot, the friend's car was in the parking area and she was nowhere to be seen. Caleb continued on by saying "let's just hike on up and find her!" "This is where we die", I thought to myself as we begin hiking up a hill to a waterfall somewhere in the distance! We began to reach the top (mind you, the friend is nowhere to be seen still), we come over a ledge and I see rose petals everywhere! My immediate exclamation was "How sweet! I bet someone was proposed to earlier!!" Way to ruin your own proposal, Kenzie!! It was then that I realized the roses were for ME! Caleb dropped to one knee, proclaimed his love in a way that I am sure was magical (I was sobbing and don't know anything that was said, other than YESS!!). His friend then made herself visible and was kind enough to capture the moment on camera! While that was somewhat of a silly story, it was absolute perfection to me. It was planned, thought out, and so romantic.
