Our Story

How We Met Kenzie and Bailey had technically known of each other for years—through family connections and even music—but it wasn’t until a difficult and vulnerable season in Kenzie’s life that their paths truly crossed. At the time, Kenzie was navigating her mental health journey and had launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund an album in Nashville, with each song rooted in faith, healing, and self-discovery. It was a project born from honesty and hope, created to share her story and connect with others who might be struggling too. After seeing the campaign, Bailey reached out—not with expectations, but with kindness. He shared how much he admired Kenzie’s courage to be so open, invited her to Bible study, and let her know he was there if she ever needed someone to talk to. What began as simple conversations slowly grew into a meaningful friendship, grounded in faith, encouragement, and genuine care. Over time, that friendship turned into something deeper, and it became clear that God had been quietly weaving their stories together all along. The Proposal Bailey’s proposal almost didn’t go as planned—but in many ways, that made it even more special. After a really tough day, Kenzie nearly stayed home the night Bailey planned to propose, completely unaware that he was behind the scenes texting both families and doing everything he could to make the moment happen. With a little help and encouragement from her mom and sisters, Kenzie decided she felt well enough to attend the dinner Bailey had planned after all, still not suspecting a thing. That evening in the Haymarket, Bailey led Kenzie down an alley, gently pulled her aside, and got down on one knee. Even though their families were nearby and a few strangers stopped to watch, the moment felt quiet and personal—like it was just the two of them. They celebrated afterward with family, laughter, and happy tears, soaking in the joy of the moment and ending the night surrounded by so much love. What made the proposal especially meaningful was that it happened in the middle of a hard moment, not after it passed. It was a reminder that love doesn’t wait for things to be perfect—it shows up, stays steady, and chooses you even on the difficult days. It marked the beginning of a future built on grace, patience, and walking through life side by side. Life Together Today, Bailey is a high school shop teacher and wrestling coach, and Kenzie works as a K–2 paraprofessional while also pursuing her passion for music with her band. Their lives are full and purpose-driven, shaped by service, creativity, and a shared love for helping others. They believe deeply in showing up for the people around them and supporting each other’s callings. Kenzie and Bailey love being active and having fun together—two-stepping, line dancing, playing sand volleyball a couple nights a week, and cheering on the Huskers are some of their favorite ways to spend time together. Sports have always been a big part of their lives, whether it’s tailgating for football games, watching any Husker sport, Kenzie supporting Bailey at wrestling events, or finding friendly ways to be a little competitive themselves. They also love traveling, spending time with family and friends, trying new things, and going on walks with their pup, Lani. They enjoy nights out—dressing up, dining out, catching live music, and dancing—but equally cherish cozy nights in, making tacos or eating pizza while watching favorite shows like Big Brother, Traitors, Love Island, or Survivor. No matter where they are—out on the town, on the road, or at home—Kenzie and Bailey find joy in doing life side by side, creating memories together, and appreciating both the big adventures and the small, everyday moments.
