We met during our sophomore year of college through mutual friends. One night, Alec walked me home from a friend’s place—just being polite. Kenzie had a boyfriend at the time, so nothing came of it. Over time, we kept finding ourselves in the same circles, always around each other but never pursuing anything—until one day Alec sent me a message on Snapchat. That small moment sparked something real. Toward the end of the school year, Alec asked me to be his girlfriend. That summer, we did long distance—Alec in Colorado, Kenzie in Iowa. It wasn’t always easy, but we made it work. Coming back to campus that fall felt like everything had clicked into place. From that point on, we were inseparable. We dated all throughout college. After graduation, Alec moved back home for a few months, but it didn’t take long before he made the decision to move to Iowa. We moved in together in Ankeny, where we started building a life side by side. Since then, we’ve bought our first home, adopted a cat (Leia) and a dog (Lulu), and continued writing our story—one that started with a simple walk home and a Snapchat message.
