We met at Central Hills Baptist Retreat in 2017. I was a first year staffer and he was a part of maintenance and ran the horse barn. Since I had a love for the horses I was put there just about all summer which helped to form a strong friendship with Clay. I developed a crush for him but didn't want to ruin our friendship so I didn't say anything. Little did I know he had developed one too. After that summer was over we kept in contact and stayed friends. I moved to Starkville for school and he stayed in Kosciusko working at camp. Sadly, I wasn't able to work at camp the following year so we lost contact with each other but still remained friends. We moved on and dated other people but in the summer of 2019 I was able to be at camp for another summer. I was so excited to finally get back to what I loved and reconnect with other friends I had missed so much, including Clay. Of course I was working at the horse barn at camp again that summer so me and Clay were able to reconnect. I started the summer with no intention of finding romance; after all, I was in a relationship already. However, my relationship with my then boyfriend hit the rocks and ended midsummer. As we reconnected, my crush came back and so did his, but neither one of us would admit it. We started dating after camp ended. During spring break we took our first vacation together to Gulf Shores, Alabama and loved every second despite the horrible sunburn we both got. We decided to do another trip to the same beach as a summer vacation. The second night we were there after eating at the Hangout we took a night walk on the beach with my sister and our friend Jackson and took pictures. While taking a "picture", which was actually a video of the proposal, with my sister I turned around to see him down on one knee proposing to me. Obviously I said yes :). We have been happily engaged since June 8th 2020 and are so excited to share and celebrate our big day with everyone on November 7th 2020.
