If you are not outdoorsy, but still want to experience the beauty of the Smoky Mountains, consider taking a drive through Cades Cove. This loop goes past several historic structures and includes scenic views of the mountains. If you look carefully you might even see some animals. The best time to see bears is close to dawn or dusk.
One of our favorite places to visit in the fall (usually for McKensie’s Birthday). We highly recommend the cider (with free tasting) and the bakery. McKensie personally enjoys the apple cider donuts and apple stack cakes at the bakery. There is also a restaurant and several shops on the property for you to visit.
A wonderful coffee roastery in Townsend (our favorite way to enter the Smokies, known as the “Peaceful Side”). If you visit expect a complimentary cup of coffee, wonderful smells, and the opportunity to purchase some small batch roasted coffee.
