Although the pandemic was devastating for several different reasons, it was a blessing because otherwise McKenna and Jordan would have never met! Due to the nature of lockdowns and quarantines, many people could only communicate via their phones and online. Jordan and McKenna both attended the University of Wisconsin River Falls. However, they never saw each other on campus, they met through a dating app their senior year! It baffles them that they never saw each other on campus because UWRF is a smaller college campus. However, Jordan majored in agriculture business so most of his classes were in the agriculture department and McKenna was in the psychology department so they had different class locations, and different friend groups, and lived in apartments on the opposite side of campus. Jordan also worked on the school's farm and a farm back in his hometown of Winona on the weekends. So when McKenna was staying at college during the weekends for the dance team, Jordan was back home working hard at the farm. After talking for some time on the dating app and exchanging many long paragraphs through text messages, they went on their first date! From the very beginning, they both knew it was special. They never met someone before that loved to text multiple paragraphs at once. They were both so excited to get to know each other!

Their first date was at a restaurant where they exchanged many good conversations and laughs. They hit it off and that same night they planned their next date. Their next date was going cross-country skiing, this was Jordan's idea because he heard McKenna had always wanted to try this type of skiing and he was a cross-country skier in high school. Before they met to go skiing, Jordan had brought McKenna her favorite warm drink, chai tea. It's the little things. Then, the two spent any moment they could together hiking, getting ice cream, making dinners together, going to bonfires with friends, watching Yellowstone, going to the local bars in River Falls, and more. They only had two months to spend together before they both graduated college and Jordan moved to Ohio for his new job. After graduation, Jordan and McKenna spent 11 months of their relationship over 800 miles away from each other. However, McKenna was lucky enough to have a flexible schedule with graduate school and work to fly out to see Jordan roughly every month. They exchanged many Facetime calls and letters to each other during this time. Now, Jordan moved back to Minnesota so they no longer have to do long distance!
