McKenna & Kyle first met at a party in college where they both attended Belmont University. He was a senior and she was a freshman at the time. Kyle remembers to this day exactly what she was wearing at the party when they met through a mutual friend. McKenna and Kyle both went on with their night and didn't speak to each other again for years. Sometimes, Kyle would pop in on Instagram to comment on a story or photo, but McKenna was usually too shy to reply. He finally got his shot on Christmas Eve of 2018. Kyle told her she looked pretty that night on one of her photos. They began chatting back and forth on the app for days. Quickly, Kyle asked for her number so they could text or call each other. That holiday, they talked on the phone almost every night until the wee hours of the morning. They would chat about their favorite movies, music, their families and never had a dull moment. In January of 2019, they had their first date at Edly's BBQ in Nashville. Even though both were a little nervous, they somehow knew this was truly something special. They didn't begin officially dating until February 28, 2019.
Kyle & McKenna had been itching for a vacation, so they both set off to Florida to visit her family in July of 2021. Her mom had told her she set up a photoshoot for her music while she was there. McKenna knew she needed more content for social media. Kyle told McKenna he was not planning on going with her or her mom the night of the shoot, and she didn't blame him. But, when the minute came around Kyle had told her he would tag along so he could see the beach and watch the sunset. Little did she know his plan. During the shoot Kyle said he had a great picture idea. Kyle is a very creative person, so McKenna didn't think anything of this moment. He then turned her around, got down on one knee and asked, “Will you marry me?” and of course she said yes! Then Kyle pointed to both sides of the family heading their way to them on the beach. Their engagement was a special one for the books.
