To my smoking hot wife! You had me at "hi". I will never forget the first time I saw you.. McKenna and I met at a "friendly gathering" in Spring Valley, AZ the summer after I graduated (she was going into her senior year). Walking in the door I saw this incredibly adorable girl with a small group of my friends and immediately interjected to make her acquaintance. I couldn't focus on anything but her, I was completely enamored. Less than an hour into the party someone sounded the alarm that the good ol' YCSO had arrived and it was time to evacuate. Everyone ran to the backyard and bailed over the fence, making one last sweep to clear the house, I followed suit. Vaulting the back fence into a recently plowed field, I was surprised to find the girl of my dreams doing her best to navigate her way through the dirt-clods. Her tiptoeing escape was futile, so I scooped her up, slinging her over my shoulder and we headed for the hills. As we cuddled up under cover of night beneath a mesquite tree, conversing lightly and admiring the stars, who knew it would be the start of a conversation that was destined to last a lifetime?! Staying in touch (with much adoration) for the next 13 years, our paths crossed only three times until McKenna and Renick moved to Arizona in 2016. We spent the next couple months together as often as possible. I was fortunate and blessed to get to spend time with our son, even teaching him how to swim (and he'll vouch for it!). Progressing in our career paths and MK being her "independent woman" self, we parted ways one last time. 12/11/18, McKenna reached out to wish me a happy birthday, two days later we met up for lunch. God how I'd missed her... The next couple of weeks were a whirlwind. On 12/24/18 McKenna and I went on our very first real date and officially became a couple, making out in the parking lot and talking about our future together. On New Year's Eve I told her I loved her, and that I always had (which is true!) The rest is history...
