We met in 2016, at a dance for McKenna's sorority. I had been dancing like crazy, and went to the water fountain to get a drink. As I was drinking, McKenna exited the bathroom right next to me with a few friends. I had seen McKenna at the Newman Center before, a sight I will never forget, and having been given this opportunity to meet her, I couldn't pass it up. For all those that know me, I am typically timid, but in that moment, I was bold and energetic. I introduced myself to McKenna, and we walked back to the dance room. Once we got back, we parted ways, but for the rest of the night I was looking for an opportunity to dance with her. It did not come that night, but this began my pursuit of this wonderful woman.
I asked McKenna on our first date on October 31, 2016. There was a Halloween dance at the Newman Center, and I was in the middle of a conversation with this guy. As I was talking to him, I saw over his shoulder that McKenna was sitting by herself and looking at her phone. I was so drawn to her that I just left the conversation I was in without a word and walked to sit by her side. I said something to her that I am sure I thought was super smooth, though I can’t recall verbatim what that might be. At any rate, McKenna and I started talking and then the Wobble started playing. McKenna and I both got up and danced the Wobble with a huge group of people, after which McKenna and her friends started to leave. I at first just asked McKenna for her phone number, and she gave it, but as she was leaving, I was struck with courage again and asked McKenna if she wanted to go on a date with me. Praise God, she said yes!
After five dates, though, McKenna and I thought we decided to just be friends. Fast forward a few months from the fifth date: McKenna and I sat next to each other in bio, hung out at the Newman Center, and talked a lot in person, yet we were still not together. I knew that I wanted to be with her, and I was pretty sure she wanted the same, as she would repeatedly draw on my arms. I asked her to be my girlfriend in February of 2017. There was a brief breakup in 2017, but we were back together on May 27, 2017. We broke up one more time, in October of 2017, but it only lasted a couple weeks, so we don’t really count it xD After each breakup, our relationship grew in strength and obviously it is God’s Will for us to be together!
I proposed to McKenna on October 27, 2018 (apparently October is an important month for us xD). I brought her to the Adoration Chapel at San Francisco de Asis, and, as we were praying before the Blessed Sacrament, I proposed. I asked McKenna if she would pursue the Heart of Jesus by my side in marriage, and she said yes! We are so excited to have you at our wedding and we thank you for walking along this journey with us!
