We had our first date at Island Burgers in Carolina Beach which turned out to be a gas station burger place. Tyler was waiting in the bed of his truck and I pulled up to meet him for the first time and flipped him off instead of saying hi or something normal and sweet. In the parking lot when we were leaving, Emily stepped up onto the parking block in front of her car to give me a hug which was extremely endearing and still puts a smile on my face when I think about it today.

Excited for an evening walk on the beach and to look for shells I didn’t realize he was going to propose. A few minutes into “looking for shells,” he stops and says Emily…and then I start crying and hugging him. Neither of us really remember what I (or she) said but we both know it was a very happy moment that both of us were excited and ready for.
