McKellyn

McKellyn grew up all over the states with her family as part of the Air Force. Born in Great Falls, Montana, she has lived in Nebraska, Hawaii, California (twice!), Florida, and now Idaho. She is a licensed massage therapist and loves to swim, crochet, read, and talk about Star Wars. Her family includes her parents, Cory and Danette, and her sister and brother, Madi and Hayden.

Aidan

Aidan was born in Nashua, New Hampshire. A year later, his family moved cross-country to Vancouver, Washington. After 11 years there, they went north to Sandpoint in 2013. Aidan is also a licensed massage therapist, and he enjoys drumming, working out, and nerding out about Lord of the Rings. Aidan’s family is made up of his parents Ken and Kelly, and his older brother Isaac.

The Story of Us

The Not-Nots!

Official story goes we met in massage therapy school at North Idaho Massage Academy in August of 2019. Aidan joined NIMA in June of 2019 to follow in his mom’s footsteps to become an LMT. McKellyn followed shortly after, becoming part of the September class. And then COVID. Due to school stuff and learning a physical skill in a socially distanced time, the June and September classes were merged. Quickly we became known as the punsters of the group, as we tried to out-learn the other (we are not competitive at all, no way) in class. Slowly the jokes and competitions turned into a friendship. McKellyn thought it would stay that way, but Aidan had other plans. In March of 2020, as the school went remote for 2 months and everything shut down, Aidan asked a very clueless McKellyn if we could “hang out”. If you haven’t met each other’s family yet, and restaurants are closing with no sign of opening anytime soon, where do you go to "hang out"? The answer apparently is Walmart. Yet even after this and many nights hanging out after class, McKellyn was still not getting the point. (The parents did, but that’s another story) Finally she started catching on after spending the 4th of July together and introducing Aidan to her family (including her grandparents!). But we didn't start dating until we graduated in September 2020. That started the Not-Nots. Danette, McKellyn’s mom, tried to describe Aidan to a friend as “not McKellyn’s boyfriend, but not not her boyfriend,” and it stuck! Then for several months we spent a lot of time together at school, swimming, studying, hanging out in the parking lot for literal hours after our (night!) class let out. And then after about 940 class hours, hundreds of texts and late nights, several notebooks of notes, two almost-school-sanctioned class pillow forts, 3 broken water bottles, we graduated! September 15, 2020 after our last class is the “official” anniversary of our relationship.
