A very rocky 5.3 mile hike via the Appalachian Trail! There is a small parking lot right near the trailhead or accross Rt. 7 there is a commuter parking lot. This trail gets pretty busy so we recommend getting there early. Afterwards, go to bear chase brewing for a drink!
If you feel like taking a longer drive, the North entrance to the Shenandoah National Park Entrance is about an hour from Leesburg, VA where the hotels are located. Below are some hikes we recommend: -Hawksbill Gap (Highest peak in the park): 2.9 miles -Old Rag (most popular hike): about 10 mile hike with rock scramble. Get there early as it gets crowded! -Fox Hollow Loop (good for kids): 1.2 mile loop -Little Devil Stairs: 7.7 miles out and back -Mary's Rock (nice viewpoint): 3.7 miles
