We're told we used to ride the kindergarten bus together, but apparently this didn't mean much to either of us because we don't remember it, and didn't maintain a friendship in elementary school. We again shared bus rides in high school when Boothe would miss his assigned bus and then run half a mile down the street to catch mine. We became close during our senior year over many afternoons of biology study groups (turns out our biology period was double booked with Boothe's nap time), and eventually went to prom together. We kept in contact during college, and started dating at the beginning of senior year in 2012.
We were in Chicago on a family outing (my dad was apparently desperate to go to an antique car show), and had stopped at The Bean for pictures beforehand. When it was time for our picture, Maggie was pretty aggressively shooing innocent bystanders away, which seemed like overkill since we have quite a few pictures in that same exact location already. While we were standing there and I was trying to figure out why this had become such a serious photo op, I looked around and saw his mom (who lives on the East Coast) was there too! Before I knew it he was down on one knee. He asked, I said yes(!), and no one went to the car show.
It only seems appropriate to continue our love story in Chicago where we got engaged. We are excited for all of our family and friends to be together to help us celebrate the next chapter of our adventure. See you in ChiTown!
