Our love story began on the streets of Devon Lane at JMU. Go Dukes! While it wasn't love at first sight, we grew to become very close friends, spending time playing games, laughing, drinking champagne, and killing time in Harrisonburg, all while developing a deep appreciation for each other. That appreciation quickly turned to affection when James asked Alex to be his girlfriend senior year (though he got a bit nervous and tried to back out that same night). Our relationship, however, seemed destined to be temporary, as James had already decided to move across the country to Colorado after graduation. But as they say, love knows no distance, and after one too many flights between Virginia and Colorado, Alex decided to join him. Five years later, James made an even bigger move. While on a hike to Sky Pond in Rocky Mountain National Park—one of the most beautiful spots in Colorado—James proposed to Alex and sealed the deal with his beautiful bride-to-be. Now, we live together in Colorado, surrounded by close friends, family, and the best new addition to our lives—a puppy named Bailey. We have forged a beautiful relationship, cherishing what makes each of us special and unique, growing together, trying new things, learning how to be puppy parents, and appreciating every day we get to spend side by side.
