We met for the first time during a group interview for the RA job at Rutgers. We both thought the other was cute, but Sean thought Riley was a bit talkative… and Riley thought Sean was a bit quiet - so no moves were made. Fast forward 6 months, we end up in the same RA class at McCormick Hall, and Riley made a point of sitting next to Sean (and best man Jason). She causally asked him if he wanted to hang out while Mary (the maid of honor) had a date and wanted to have their apartment to herself. We hung out that night (as friends), didn’t talk much for a couple of months and then covid hit. Sean texted Riley at some point to ask a question about RA stuff, and we haven’t stopped talking since.
Since Riley is a master detective, Sean had to keep her on her toes prior to the proposal. She had some idea it would happen on the beach at Block Island, but could never be sure. On the day of, the plan was to get pizza to bring to the beach to watch the sunset. We thought we had plenty of time. We get to the beach with the pizza and realize we had left the bag with all of our wallets and keys at the pizza shop! We (allegedly) speed back there, grab the bag and head back. At this point, we BARELY made it in time to watch the sunset! After that all went well - but we’ll have a hell of a story to tell our kids one day!
