Getting To & From Airports

JFK Airport (Recommended for most international travelers) - For those travelling light (carry-on or minimal checked luggage), AirTrain + Long Island Railroad (LIRR) is often the easiest, fastest, and most cost‑effective option (45 min travel time) Step-by-step: JFK Airport → Manhattan (LIRR option) 1. Follow signs in your terminal for AirTrain. 2. Take AirTrain to Jamaica Station (red line train goes there). 3. Payment for AirTrain: - Simply tap a contactless credit/debit card or Apple/Google Pay at the exit gates. - Cost is charged automatically (no paper ticket required). At Jamaica Station, transfer to the LIRR (Long Island Rail Road). Buying LIRR tickets: 1. Download the MTA TrainTime App (recommended). 2. Purchase a CityTicket (off‑peak) for best value when travelling within NYC. 3. You can also buy tickets from machines at the station after exiting the AirTrain barriers. 4. Take the LIRR to Grand Central Station or Penn Station (both are central and close to hotels). From there a yellow cab is recommended.
