We met while working at the same hospital in Missoula — both nurses on different units, so our paths didn’t cross often. A few coworkers thought we’d be a good match; Matt added Colleen on Facebook while she was out of state and messaged her to ask her out. Colleen didn’t respond right away (she was traveling), which stressed Matt a bit, but when she did reply they met for dinner and a comedy show in downtown Missoula. After that night we talked daily and saw each other whenever we could outside of work. We realized how much we cared for one another after an ice‑fishing date that ended with an unexpected hospital visit — and through the ups and downs our bond only grew. About six months in we moved in together and now live in Frenchtown with our dogs Cedar and Winston, plus chickens, goats, and rabbits; we’ve jokingly named our place “McHooker Farms.” In February 2026 we returned to Quinn’s Hot Springs, a trip we’d planned for months and hope to make an annual tradition. On the second day Matt led a hike to an outlook — and surprised Colleen by proposing at the top. As she took in the view and turned around, Matt was on one knee asking, “Will you marry me?” Colleen answered “YES!” before he finished. A friend Matt had arranged was there to capture the moment. We can’t wait to spend our lives adventuring and growing together, and we’re so excited to celebrate with our family and friends in Missoula on August 8, 2026.
