Let's back up a bit.... Ryan bought the ring about a year and a half ago and thought he was being sneaky about it. Not too long after, I came home from work on my lunch break to walk the dogs one day and found a wallet in the front yard - it was Ryan's. I opened it to check to see if everything was there and found a Kay Jeweler's business card in the front (nothing was missing, btw). A few days later we were running errands together and I opened his center console to put something away and there was a brand new Kay Jeweler's card (I also have a Kay Jeweler's card, so I recognized that it was the brand new card design). A couple weeks later we came home from a weekend trip and there was a bill from Kay Jeweler's in the mail.... I pretended not to see this bill for several days until Ryan finally went through the mail 🙂 He eventually admitted to me that he had the ring, and I admitted that I'd known about it for a while... the problem was that we wanted to be engaged somewhere grand. We knew we had the cruise coming up and that it was the most likely scenario for a proposal. We both agreed that we didn't want to wait another year after the engagement to get married, so we started planning. In a short time we had everything lined out, but we thought it might be odd to announce the wedding before the engagement. So while we did just get engaged, we had a plan all along and spent most of this year piecing that plan together. There were very few people in the know - even our family's were in the dark!
