It was a rainy day in November, 2011 at Miami University when Lauren's housemate and dear friend, Rachel, bribed her with Starbucks for a ride to pick up notes from a classmate's house (Cam's best friend, Aaron). Once inside, Lauren and Cam met for the first time (despite living across the street from each other for their entire first year of college) and spent much longer than anticipated hanging out with the group of friends. Little did either know, but Aaron and Rachel had set up this "chance" encounter. A few weeks later, Cam invited Lauren and Rachel to a holiday party at his house. It was there, under the fluorescent lights of Cam's frat house, surrounded by ugly Christmas sweaters, that they truly hit it off. They began officially dating shortly after- and the rest is history!
Cam planned a fabulous 30th birthday weekend for Lauren and a group of their friends. He rented a house near Lake Erie and Ohio Wine Country (its wonderful, look it up) and planned a fun-filled weekend. When Lauren and Cam first arrived on Friday night, Cam made mention of going for a walk along the water the next morning. Lauren agreed and thought nothing more of it. Friends arrived that evening and ate, drank, and were merry. The next morning, they woke up and Lauren prepared to go downstairs to turn on the oven to start getting breakfast items ready, but Cam quickly offered and Lauren did not object. Once he returned to the room he suggested going for a walk near the water before everyone else woke up. Lauren put on her finest sweatpants and Uggs (clearly not understanding what was happening) and they took a walk towards the water. 3/4 of the way down the stairs to the water, Lauren saw a card and flowers on the beach and immediately knew what was happening. She then pretty much blacked out but apparently attempted to open the card with difficulty (gloves are hard) while the waves almost washed Cam and the ring away (dramatic). Lauren obviously said yes and they spent the rest of the weekend party bussing and drinking at wineries with some of their best friends. It was truly magical.
