San Luis Obispo is roughly halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles on the California coast (around a 4 hour drive from either city if you are able to avoid the traffic). It's a relatively small city of around 50,000 people over 13 square miles. Pictured above is the view from our apartment of Cerro San Luis Obispo, one of a chain of ancient volcanic peaks called the Nine Sisters (the number if sisters is disputed).
Unfortunately, It appears that all hotels in or near SLO are quite expensive for the weekend of the wedding, and the Friday/Saturday rates are around double the Thursday/Sunday rates. We were able to get some modest discounts on the listed hotels, but you are welcome to stay wherever you would like if you find something more appealing!
Flight
(SBP) San Luis Obispo County Airport
If you want to make a trip of it, you could fly into San Jose International Airport or an LA-area airport, then rent a car and drive. Otherwise, the SLO airport is very quick and easy.

Getting around town
Rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft work well in the SLO area. You can also rent a car at the airport.
