We met on the popular dating app Hinge. After a few messages back and forth we agreed to get a drink at a local spot, Citrus & Salt. You can tell we both take after our fathers because Sean arrived early and Kayla was on "McDonald time", arriving 20 minutes late. We spent the night drinking margaritas and eating chips and guac while getting to know each other. Little did we know, this would set the foundation for many taco and margarita nights throughout the next 3 years.
For those of you who don't know, Kayla and I got a puppy, Maeve, this past December right before Christmas. Fast forward to January, I had a ring and was ready to propose! I just needed to devise a plan to get Kayla to her favorite view of the Boston sky line. This meant leaving the puppy home alone for the first time. I had one of my close friends invite us out to drinks that Saturday night and I was able to convince Kayla to commit. Unfortunately, Kayla had a close exposure at work that week and came home every day convinced she had Covid. This caused me A LOT of stress! Luckily, she kept testing negative. On the day of, my friend and I came up with a plan to buy time and get Kayla to the Seaport waterfront, where I eventually proposed. As we were walking along the water, I got down to one knee and asked Kayla to marry me! I may have blacked out and didn't say the speech I had prepared, but she said yes anyway! We grabbed a celebratory espresso martini at a nearby restaurant. Later that night, our local friends and family were waiting for us to celebrate at the apartment with Maeve!
