We’re getting married !

We met at Pike High School during our junior year in Mr. Burchfield’s AP U.S. History class. We were assigned seats next to each other but didn’t think much of it at the time. We talked here and there. Don would crack jokes, and ultimately we formed an initial friendship that led me to ask for his Instagram. As a joke, I told him I was moving and wasn’t returning to Pike after winter break (again I was just messing with him). During winter break I was agonizing over why Don wasn’t texting me at all. But little did I know, he was in full depression mode because he potentially would never see the girl of his dreams ever again. (hahaha) We returned from winter break, and I was sitting back in Mr. Burchfield’s class when all of a sudden, I heard Don walking in, wearing his Skull Candy headphones, singing Baby Got Back at the top of his lungs. As he’s getting ready to sit down, he looks over and sees me staring at him. He immediately starts freaking out saying “WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?! I THOUGHT YOU MOVED!” From there, our friendship developed stronger. Weeks went by and the feelings we had for each other grew stronger. We had a strong foundation in our friendship, and on February 25, 2013, he asked me to be his girlfriend. We sealed it with a kiss to make it official and he ran away towards the buses with rosy cheeks. (Hahaha x2)

During our 2023 cousins trip, we went to Puerto Rico. Saturday, the day before we left, we had a beach day about 1-2 hours away from our Airbnb. On our way back home, we had all agreed we wanted dinner, and we had all coordinated to wear all-white outfits. Seeing that we were not going to make the reservation in time, someone suggested that we quickly change into our “all-white outfits” so we could catch the sunset and at least take pictures along the beach. As soon as we got to the Airbnb, everyone went to their rooms and started to change (at least that’s what I thought and saw). While I’m changing, my cousin Kevin knocks on our door and says “We have a surprise for the girls! Please put this blindfold on.” As he handed it to Don. I was so confused about what was going on and was not sure what surprise he could be talking about. My first thought was, “OMG they are surprising us with a romantic dinner on the beach.” We all met in the living room with the girls “blindfolded” the entire time. The guys led us down onto the beach. After a certain point, we came to a standstill, and Don lifted my blindfold. I looked to my left and I saw this beautiful rose path with a “Marry Me” sign at the end. Tears just came pouring out as we held each other. We walked down, and Don got on one knee, and he asked me to be his best friend for the rest of our lives (ahhhhhhh!!!). The rest is history! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in September!
