We met on the first day of orientation at Grove City College, a fact that neither of us actually remember happening. After four years of being somewhat aware of each other's existence, we became friends for real after graduation, when we both moved to Pittsburgh and started going to the same church. We had a lot of fun together those four years, with trips to concerts, game nights and bonfires with our other friends, and suffering through a single class of graduate school together before both deciding it wasn't for us. After four and a half years of being friends, we realized our feelings for each other, and, following some prompting by a couple mutual friends, we finally admitted it to each other. We went to our first date at Phipps Conservatory and a sushi dinner downtown and spent seven hours together talking, laughing, and finding out just how much we enjoyed being together. Over the next year, we continued talking and laughing and falling deeper and deeper in love with each other. And now we're so excited to do just that for the rest of our lives together.
We had just bought a house and were getting it ready for Mike to move in. We had plans one night to bring over a few things. Mike went over earlier that day and decorated the empty living room with flowers, balloons, candles, and rose petals. When we got to the house, Megan saw the room and asked the romantic question "What did you do?" Mike got down on one knee and asked Megan to marry him. She said yes!
Even before Mike put a ring on Megan's finger, we knew planning a wedding in the middle of a global pandemic was going to be a big and unique challenge. So we decided to take the path a lot of other 2020 couples did, and we had a tiny intimate "Covid wedding." With the help of our wonderful parents and siblings and some incredible friends, we got married in the living room of our new home on March 13, 2021. So even though our celebration this October may not be our official wedding, we are so excited to be able to gather with all of our family and friends to celebrate our marriage together. We hope to see you there!
