They had known each other for quite a while. Robert came down to Orlando to hang out with Rachel’s brother and they all ended up hanging out for the day. There was something different in the air than before. Although he would bet his life that he asked her for her number that Saturday (she doesn’t recall the question), no numbers were given. The next weekend, the mother of the soon-to-be bride decided it would be a great idea to go skydiving. The invitation was extended to Robert since he had (all of a sudden) started working for Julie. To pay off her debt, she decided to pay for his jump. Robert failed to mention his fear of heights. Fast forward to both Robert and Rachel jumping out of an airplane (immensely enjoying it). The sunset was pretty on the runway and as they were walking back to the truck he asked, “So does a guy have to jump out of an airplane to get your number?” And that started the week-long process of sending her dad jokes and cheesy pick-up lines in order to secure the first date.
