Anna was sent on a week-long work trip to Baltimore to ramp up a new project in October 2018. While looking up things to do in town, she found Mobtown Ballroom. They had a social swing dance event the Monday she landed, and she decided to go. There she met David, who asked to take her to dinner after a few dances (and drinks). She said yes, with the caveat that she was only in town for the week. Their first date was on Halloween, and David came dressed as a pirate, with an extra hat and sword for Anna as well. They had a great time and met up a few times throughout the week, then Anna flew home to Chicago that Friday. They continued to talk, text, FaceTime, etc. The next time they saw each other was when David flew Anna down to Florida for Christmas to meet his mom and sister. They visited back and forth more regularly after that, and David (and his 2 cats) moved to Chicago in July of 2019.

Once when Anna was visiting David in his apartment in Baltimore, he was on the phone with a friend. She was in the other room and not paying much attention to the conversation until she heard him say, "Oh don't worry she can't hear." He then went on to describe his proposal plan for "the place we met, on our anniversary." Anna told her mom, but otherwise didn't talk about it to anybody. A few months later, Anna's mom told David that she knew about the proposal plan. David was devastated, and couldn't figure out who could've (or would've) told Anna about his plans. He decided he had to change it up a bit, and didn't tell anyone what the new plan was. Anna and David were in Baltimore for the weekend for a friends wedding, and went dancing at Mobtown that Friday. Towards the end of the night, David pulled Anna aside and proposed. Of course, she said yes. David later found out that it was he himself that was the leak, not anybody he had previously told.

For friends/family we haven't had the chance to introduce our partner to, here's a short summary! David is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and has been practicing for 10 years. He found swing dancing a number of years ago, but became more serious about it around 2016. He is opening his own Physical Therapy practice in FL (and will hopefully host dancing after hours!). He loves Ayn Rand, Game of Thrones, and his cats. He is a very outgoing, passionate person and will talk to anyone he meets. He enjoys playing video games with friends, live music/festivals, and cooking together with Anna. Anna has been a Software Engineer for 2 years. She was first exposed to swing dancing around 2016, but didn't pursue it consistently until 2018. Contrary to David, she is far more reserved. Her interests outside of work include reading, her cats, and just about anything that can be considered "crafty shit." She loves sewing (is making her wedding dress), and enjoys baking, cooking, and quiet nights in. Hobbies they enjoy doing together include swing dancing, cooking, finding good local restaurants/bars, and binging the occasional Netflix show covered in cats.
