How We Met

Our story began in 2017. Hannah had only been living in Nashville for a few months when she first met Justin at a birthday party. She thought he was goofy (but charming) and even with his long hair and full beard, she thought he was kind of cute. Their paths crossed again about a year later when Hannah tagged along with her roommate Mae to go bowling with friends. Justin was there too and spent the entire day trying to impress Hannah. He even asked Hannah if they could hold hands but Hannah politely declined. Once again, Hannah thought he was just goofy and didn’t take his flirtations very seriously. Another year went by, and Justin decided out of the blue to ask Hannah out. Their timing wasn’t great, and it was another month before they would actually go on their first date (Justin took her to a burger joint not yet knowing that Hannah is a vegetarian). After dinner, Hannah asked Justin for a favor - to help her hang up a TV. Given that Hannah’s love language is “acts of service,” this really moved the dial in Justin's favor. Within a few weeks, they were inseparable and it wasn't very long before Hannah knew that he was the one (she may have accidentally let an "I love you" slip out after only 2 months of dating).

The Proposal

Saint Simons Island has always been a special place to Hannah’s family, and after visiting a few times, Justin also fell in love with it. In early March 2021, Justin had the idea to take a spontaneous trip to SSI to visit Hannah’s family. It would be their first time flying on an airplane with their new puppy, Kunu. Normally, Justin would roll his eyes about how much Hannah overpacks for a casual beach weekend. But this time, he acted excited and even asked Hannah to show him what outfits she was packing. This should have been Hannah’s first clue that something was up. On the very first evening of the trip, Justin suggested that they take a sunset walk on the beach and insisted that they bring Kunu with them. Once they got to the beach for their walk, Justin told Hannah that he had ordered a new bandana for Kunu and bent down to put it on him. When he was finished, Hannah looked at Kunu and realized that he was wearing a bandana that said “will you marry my Dad?” She literally screamed and turned around to see Justin down on one knee! They were so excited that they didn’t even end up going on their sunset walk but instead ran back to the house to share the news with Hannah’s family! We can't wait to celebrate with you! See you in Nashville!
