Shenandoah Valley Civil War Museum
Located in the heart of downtown Winchester, the Shenandoah Valley Civil War Museum occupies the historic Frederick County Courthouse. Today, the museum features the preserved 1840 courtroom, the graffiti walls, and a nationally recognized collection of over 3,000 Civil War artifacts that help illustrate the common life of a soldier.
Patsy Cline Historic House
"Come on in, sit right down, and make yourself at home." Winchester is the home to late country music legend Patsy Cline. Visit this preserved home of the country music trailblazer, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, in the heart of Winchester.
Strasburg
Just a 25 minute drive south from Winchester lies Sara's hometown of Strasburg. Nestled right on the banks of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, this quiet community holds all the small-town rural Virginia charm with shops, restaurants (you have to try Pancake Underground), and hikes such as Buzzard Rock and Signal Knob which overlook the historic community and its surrounding landscape. Step back in time and visit historic landmarks and battlefields from the Civil War. Experience what makes Sara's hometown so special!
Charlottesville
If you would like to take a more extended trip, about 2.5 hours down the road is Charlottesville, where Sara spent nearly 10 years prior to moving to Houston, Texas. It is the home to the University of Virginia (Go Hoos), the Blue Ridge Mountains, wineries, breweries, and tons of history, making it one of Sara's favorite places.
