FAQs

We want this day to go as smoothly as possible. So hopefully we can answer your questions here!
Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

No. All guest that have been invited are invited by name on the invitation. If the couple has discussed with you in advance about your date or guest, their name is on the invitation. Please do not ask the couple to bring anyone else. There is limited space in the venue.

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

We love your kids, but we are being cautious about the ages of the kids invited. All kids invited are included on the invitation. We know this may inconvenience some parents, but we want to avoid some of the disruptions that can come with smaller children. As well, if you feel that your child would struggle to quietly sit through the 30 minute ceremony and sit down dinner, consider other alternatives. Feel free to talk to us about how we can help or if you have any questions. We will also have a kid-friendly area upstairs for them to hangout and play games during the reception.

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

Please be to The Cloisters Castle by 3:45 p.m. to find your seat for the ceremony. The doors will lock at 3:55 to avoid disruptions to the 4:00 p.m. ceremony. If you arrive late, please wait in the parking lot until cocktail hour begins at 4:30 p.m.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Please dress in cocktail attire. We want everyone to look their best tonight, but also be comfortable. Suit and ties are appreciated, no jeans or polos. Ties and heels will come off on the dance floor, we're sure! For more information on cocktail attire, visit https://www.greenvelope.com/blog/cocktail-dress-code. The wedding party will be wearing all black, so please avoid all black outfits so they can stand out.

Question

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Answer

Yes it is! Everything on the first floor is wheelchair accessible, but there is not an elevator to the other floors.

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Yes there is, but there is only space for 65 cars, so consider car pooling or ubering.

Question

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Weather permitting, both. It is November in Maryland, so the temperature can be unpredictable. Consider a jacket or sweater for the ceremony.

Question

Am I in family pictures? Where do I need to go?

Answer

If you are directly related to the Bride or Groom (parent, sibling, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or cousin), you are in family photos. Family photos will be taken in front of the Wind Mill, directly outside of the ceremony space. Family photos will begin at 4:30 with the Bride's family, McCartneys then Johnsons. Followed by the Groom's family at 4:50, Roberts then Mauros.

Question

Is there an open bar?

Answer

Yes there is! We will be serving beer, wine, and limited liquor. Please drink responsibly, and know the photographer and videographer are always watching.

Question

If I have a question on the day of the wedding, who do I call?

Answer

Not Nick or Katie. Call Kim McCartney, Shannon Colvin, Tricia Roberts, or Dave Roberts. If you're a friend of the couple, try the maids of honor or the best men.

Question

Can I request songs at the reception?

Answer

Yes and no. In your RSVP, there is a space to request songs for our DJ's playlist. We ask that you use that to request songs, and not directly to the DJ at the wedding.
