COVID-19 Information

We are asking that our loved ones who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 do not attend our wedding. While we care deeply about you regardless of your choice, it's important to us to hold our wedding responsibly, and we've made this decision after careful consideration of the guidance from the CDC, New York State, and global public health officials. If you are not vaccinated but still wish to celebrate with us, please get in touch so we can arrange a Zoom option for you.

A Love Story

Lauryn and Jared met twice. First was in late 2015, when a group of Reconnect Hungary alums were meeting up in a bar in midtown, and Owen Pataki came with a few friends in tow. Lauryn immediately saw Owen's cute friend and could not believe her luck that Jared talked with her all night; she thought he was just being nice. At the end of the night, as everyone walked outside, Lauryn mustered her courage and said "Jared, aren't you going to walk me to the train?" Jared claims to have no memory of this moment, so we'll never know why he said, "What? No!" and Lauryn walked away rejected. Jared's version is that as soon as they got outside, Lauryn disappeared into the night without a word, and he figured HE had been rejected. Then, Memorial Day of 2019, Owen invited Lauryn and Jared to a barbecue in Garrison that weekend. When she saw Jared at the barbecue, she asked him, "Do you remember me?" Jared cheerfully said "Nope!" but, when reminded of the night years before, cried "That was you!" and they talked all night, again. Thanks to Owen's matchmaking, the two went on their first date a week later, and that date was all it took. But Lauryn was planning to move to New Zealand, and already had a ticket. She knew Jared was the one when she nervously confessed that in a few months, she'd be on the other side of the world, and he simply said, "We'll figure it out." Somehow, they did, because as they sat on a starlit beach on the East Cape of New Zealand, Jared popped champagne to celebrate the New Year. He got up to find the cork, or so Lauryn thought, and tripped and fell dramatically, launching Lauryn into helpless laughter. It was the funniest fall she had ever seen, but when she wheezed out, "Are you okay?" he said, "There's a rock in my shoe!" and pulled out his grandmother's ring. Still laughing, Lauryn joyfully said, "Yes, absolutely, yes," when he asked, "Will you marry me?" They haven't stopped making each other laugh for a single day since.
