In 2024, Jacob and Makenna were living and working 80 miles apart- Jacob in Chico and Makenna in Roseville. Thankfully, God had a plan for these two and they matched on the app, 'Upward' in February. Their relationship began with conversations on the phone about faith, culture, and community. They finally met in person for a first date that lasted for 8 HOURS and shortly after became official. It wasn't long before they knew that being intentional with their time together could very well lead to a marriage centered on Christ and love for each other.

Jacob planned to propose on March 15, 2025, one year after their first date. The engagement day was well planned by Jacob, friends, and family- but it was a thrilling surprise for Makenna! After a hike around beautiful Mt. Tamalpais, Jacob proposed on a picturesque hillside beneath a tree with a heartfelt letter. It was a perfect moment filled with joy and excitement, shared by their families waiting in the parking lot!
