We met on Match.com, where two complete strangers connected by way of a clever and unique opening line from James. We immediately hit it off (even after Jen informed James she is a Yankee fan), and chatted for hours that first night. Over the course of a weekend, we continued to exchange messages until we each knew we had to meet in person for a first date. We met at Rustic Kitchen for dinner, and closed the restaurant down after three hours of deep and meaningful conversation. A few dates of baseball games, escape rooms, and Marvel movies later, we each knew we were hooked.
As avid baseball fans of rival AL East teams, we planned a weekend getaway to Boston to see a Yankees-Red Sox game. While planning the trip, James knew this would be the perfect time and place to propose. We attended the game on Friday night, which was Jen's first time at Fenway Park. The next morning we returned to Fenway for a tour of the iconic stadium. We did some sightseeing of Boston Common, and enjoyed time inside one of the oldest used bookstores in the country. We had dinner at a wonderful restaurant located on a wharf on the Boston Harbor. Following dinner, we boarded a sunset cruise of the harbor. About halfway through the cruise, James asked Jen if we should ask someone to take our picture (knowing she would agree). We snapped a few pictures, and then James dropped to his knee and asked the love of his life if she would spend the rest of her life with him in front of several hundred people on the boat, and she excitedly said yes.
