Joe and I first saw each other at a mutual friend's wedding. This was my first Italian wedding and I was shocked at the number of Italian cookies that were beautifully trayed throughout the venue. I had never seen anything like it before. I posted a picture of the bride and I on Instagram and shallowly captioned it "I hope I marry an Italian so I can have cookies at my wedding." Leanna, Joe's sister, slid into my messages and said "I'm going to send this to my brother!"... and she did. After weeks of texting back and forth, Joe finally asked me out to dinner at Carmen's. Naturally, he took me to an Italian restaurant and the rest is history! We can only hope a new relationship sparks because of our cookie tables.
Joe had the idea of going to brunch to celebrate my Catholic confirmation the night before. We got dressed up and were excited to go out since it had been awhile. Before we left though, I saw Joe sweeping in the kitchen. I should've known he was up to something considering this is a rare occurrence. We went to brunch, ate and drank, and had a great time. We came back home and Joe ran out of the car to open the door. As he did, I was welcomed by a trail of rose petals leading up to our living room. I immediately knew what was happening and couldn't believe it. Our friend Elizabeth was there taking photos and Joe proposed. I said YES! Little did I know, Joe had our families waiting out back to celebrate with us. We popped champagne and took lots of pictures but it didn't stop there. Next, I was told we were going to take pictures somewhere else. When we finally arrived at the "location" I walked into a clubhouse filled with all of our closest family and friends. I was so surprised and couldn't believe Joe pulled all of this off. We had the best time celebrating our engagement!
