Although Texas born and raised, Kara chose to pursue her studies at a college located in the Big Apple itself. Kara had been a close friend of Andrew's sister and one might suppose they were bound to meet. Eventually they did, before attending a Young Adults Service in Flushing, NY. It was was a chilly Friday evening at a tiny Brooklyn coffee shop, in October of 2016. Neither one of them had a clue just how special that initial moment would grow to become and the extent to which the Lord would go to make what most would consider an impossible pursuit, an unmistakable journey between two people.
For Kara it was graduation season and finals were due; writing a scientific hypothesis proving the existent of an omnipresent, omniscient God was the task. By her own admission, Kara had a secret crush on Andrew at the time, and knew, he was the man to turn to for help on this grand task. (After all, anyone who knows Andrew knows he's a sucker for science and Jesus.) So she did what any 21st century millennial woman would do...She slide into Andrew's DM, only asking for help on her paper of course. It was the perfect set-up. Yet little did anyone know Andrew also had eyes for Kara at that time! Dating was inevitable or so Andrew thought. He fought tooth and nail to earn Kara's trust, for which eventually he did. (Gods grace bro.) It was soon time for Kara to graduate, move back home to Texas and leave the city life behind, but sadly, this included Andrew. Andrew's heart was set on Kara and letting go wasn't negotiable. Never accepting "no" or "it's impossible" the city boy himself boarded the first plane he could afford every month to visit his beloved all the way in Texas. A long distance relationship wasn't something either one of them have ever experienced or anticipated. Like all things unknown, it brought about a set of new challenges and obstacles into their relationship. Truly, if the phrase "absence makes the heart grow fonder" were put to the test, Kara and Andrew can attest to the truth, the challenge, and ultimately the beauty of its claim. Soon enough, God began to undoubtably open doors which made it more than obvious that moving Andrew to Texas was part of His plan all along. The blessings they have since received are too numerous to write but one of the greatest of them all was the proposal. For Andrew it was the question he had longed to ask, and so he did, on Christmas Eve of 2020. Now you're each invited to celebrate the only answer he had hoped for. YES!
