We’re getting married!

This past fall, I started to make a habit of actively listening to God. I would spend time daily in prayer, listening for promptings from the Lord. There was one night when I was listening, and I heard God nudge me to start praying specifically over relationships. This was an extremely vulnerable topic for me, because I was feeling comfortable in my singleness. However, I felt strongly that God wanted me to be in consistent prayer about relationships, so I chose to listen. I looked at the calendar as my logical self does, and noticed that it was about to be October. I decided then that I would commit to praying specifically over relationships every single day during the month of October. This month of prayer genuinely changed my life. I was able to confess so many fears & insecurities to God. Every day, God revealed new aspects of relationships that scared me or that were hard for me. I was able to process so many things that I had buried or stuffed in my heart. I also prayed bold prayers of clear direction for what was next for me. It was such a rich month of prayer, and genuinely was one of the most healing things I have ever experienced. Zach and I both attend LifePoint Church, but we had never been in the same circle of friends. Although, there were several people that told us that we should meet because we would be a good match & get along well. In 2020, we became friends on social media and exchanged a few messages back and forth, but ultimately just went back to normal life and never actually met. However, in October, while I was praying, I received a message from Zach randomly on Instagram where he wished me a happy birthday. That message led to more messages, which eventually led to us FINALLY meeting! Zach asked me to lunch after church one Sunday, and we spent nearly 4 hours in great conversation with one another. That date led to another date & another date! Whenever we spent time together, it always felt so natural, like we had known one another forever. And after a group date with some of Zach’s friends on Halloween, Zach officially asked me to be his girlfriend! :) As I was driving home after he asked, it hit me that on the last day of the month where I felt led to pray about relationships, I was in a committed relationship with Zach. It was genuinely one of the most amazing realizations that God chose to give me such a tangible blessing from the words He prompted me with back in September. I never could have imagined that all of those prayers would lead to meeting my future husband, but I feel so humbled that God brought Zach into my life in this way. And honestly, God has just continued to affirm that He has given us one another. We couldn’t be more excited to start this next chapter of life together, & we hope that the story that God has given us always serves as a reminder that God truly cares about the desires of our hearts, and even though He doesn’t have to, He gives us really great gifts.
