The Wedding Website of Mayra Cuevas and Douglas Cavette
Getting to La Barca: I recommend traveling straight to the Guadalajara airport and staying in the area for more tourist-friendly areas. Guadalajara is a fairly big city that offers a lot of options for sightseeing and eating good food! Once you land in Guadalajara, you may hire a taxi service to take you to your hotel in the area. If you want to go straight to La Barca, you can also hire a taxi service which on average costs approximately 1800 pesos. My uncle Oscar Gutierrez is an Uber driver and has offered to drive you straight to your hotel in La Barca and communicate with me for 2000 pesos. Other popular rideshare services are Uber and Didi. You may consider going to the Guadalajara Bus Station (Central Camionera De Guadalajara). There you will find multiple bus lines to take you to La Barca, Jalisco, and other popular areas where you would enjoy local tourism. Below are hotels to consider in La Barca and Guadalajara. Expect the hotels in Guadalajara to be a lot nicer.

Hotel

HOTEL CERMAR PLAZA

174a Melchor Ocampo, La Barca, Jal. 47910, Mexico

In general, you should consider getting a hotel in La Barca the night of the wedding. We say this because the party will go late into the night and it is better to have a room nearby instead of traveling back to Guadalajara or a different city. Note that beds in Mexico may be harder than US beds. Furthermore, there is a tendency for water in the La Barca region to give off a sulfur smell from the drains. The hotels in Guadalajara will definitely be nicer and some available will be familiar names that could be found in the US. Air BnB's are also abundant in both places so feel free to do your own research if you rather go that route. Cermar Plaza is a small hotel near the border of Michoacan. It is actually right by a main parking lot in La Barca so many people in the area probably know it more so for that. It has the most reviews of the hotels in the area. It does seem to have a small amount of rooms, but the reviews do rate the rooms to be nice. Furthermore, this hotel location definitely is near the heart of La Barca so the plaza, tienditas, and restaurants are nearby. If you wanted to explore La Barca before/after the wedding, this is not a bad choice.

Hotel

HOTEL BOUTIQUE LA CAZONA

189 Calle Niños Heroes, La Barca, Jal. 47912, Mexico

This hotel has a fair amount of reviews on Google and is one of the "closer" options to El Guamulchil. Honestly, most of the hotels listed for La Barca are close by so we do not emphasize that aspect as much.

Hotel

Hotel Calzada - La Barca Jalisco

29 San Jerónimo, La Barca, Jal. 47910, Mexico

Reviews are available on Google. It strikes us as a place to sleep for the night and that's pretty much it.

Hotel

HOTEL EJECUTIVO SAN CARLOS

358 Lázaro Cárdenas, La Barca, Jal. 47910, Mexico

Reviews are on Google and the pictures look nice. It does appear to be one of the newer hotels in the area.

Hotel

Hotel Fina Inn

76 Calle M. Hidalgo, La Barca, Jal. 47910, Mexico

Hotel Fina Inn is another well-reviewed hotel in the area that happens to be newly renovated and is near the heart of La Barca as well. The reviews also mention that this hotel has AC, which is always a plus in Dougie's book.

Flight

Viva Aerobus

The cheapest of options, but quite low quality. Think of it as the Mexican Spirit Airlines.

Flight

Volaris

A common option and an affordable one as well. The flights tend to be sufficient and the staff are cordial. The plane does leave passengers wanting for more space in between seats.

Flight

Aeromexico

This is a more high-quality choice and does have premium seating that is quite comfortable. There is a chance that this airline will cost the same as Volaris, but you get more with this option!

Flight

Alaska Airlines

This airline does fly into Guadalajara and does have a good reputation. We have never flown with this airline, but an assortment of reviews can be found online.
