It all started in 2015 when Jamie sent David a message on Bumble saying “Go Blue.” We are both U of M grads so this opener was quite fitting. From closing down the restaurant on our first date to weekly dates around DC, to friends meeting, to meeting each other’s parents and trips to each other’s hometowns, the stars were aligning. About 2 years into it we were both itching for a change. With neither of us being from DC, we decided to move together to Chicago, a city that felt more natural and where we both had a lot of friends. We also decided to move in together! Fast forward to February of 2019, David and Jamie took the Amtrak to Ann Arbor to celebrate Evan’s 5th Birthday (David’s Nephew). Before the party, David told Jamie they needed to run a few errands around U of M’s campus; one being a return at the M-Den before meeting his sister and mom for lunch. As they were walking through the Diag, David asked Jamie if she wanted to sit down on the steps of the Graduate Library and pulled out a scrapbook from the M-Den bag he had been carrying around. The book had photos and mementos of their entire relationship. At the end of the book, David got down on one knee and popped the big question. Jamie, obviously in tears at this moment, said “yes!” After the long anticipated proposal, David pulled off another secret mission; both of their families had flown in to celebrate. In true Michigan fashion, David and Jamie ended the night celebrating at Skeeps and grubbing on some pizza at NYPD. We are excited to finally and officially become a family and experience life by each other’s sides. We are so fortunate to share our special day and life with each of you, who mean so much to both of us.
