Black tie Friends of the bride are encouraged to wear light blue for fun and pictures
During the Kabbalat Panim, guests gather to greet and entertain the bride and groom. As the bride and groom are considered extra holy on this day, this may be a special time to ask for a personal blessing. Here will also be the Bedeken; where the groom veils the bride before the Chuppah ceremony, the term comes from the Yiddush word ‘to cover’.
The Chuppah, the canopy and wedding ceremony symbolizes the home the couple will build together in their married life. It is open on all sides, reminiscent of the biblical tent of Abraham and Sarah, signifying that everyone is welcome and will be treated with hospitality.
