Yes. Valle de Guadalupe is a well-traveled wine region and is considered safe for visitors. As with any destination, we recommend staying on main roads, especially at night, and avoiding late-night driving whenever possible.
Both are options, but we recommend using a driver, especially if you plan to enjoy wine tastings. Valle de Guadalupe is spread out, Uber and taxis are not reliable, and many roads are unpaved near wineries and hotels. The hotel can help arrange a driver.
Yes. Mexican car insurance is required by law, and U.S. auto insurance is not valid in Mexico. Please purchase a policy in advance if you plan to drive.

There is no single “best” option, but these are the most common: Driving via San Ysidro or Otay Mesa. Flying into San Diego and renting a car or hiring a driver. Flying into Tijuana and using the Cross Border Xpress (CBX).
Some border crossings offer a Fast Pass / Medical Lane that allows vehicles to use a dedicated expedited lane when returning to the U.S. These passes are not government-issued and are sometimes provided by participating hotels or concierge services. For most guests, no. Approval timelines are typically too long. SENTRI and Global Entry are excellent for frequent travelers, but they are not realistic solutions if you do not have Global Entry already.
U.S. dollars are widely accepted, but Mexican Pesos are helpful for toll roads and small vendors. Credit cards are accepted at most hotels and wineries.
Most U.S. and European cell phone plans work in Mexico, but roaming rules vary. We recommend checking with your provider in advance and downloading offline Google Maps. WhatsApp is widely used.
Valle de Guadalupe is stylish yet relaxed. Days can be warm and sunny. Evenings can be cool, especially in vineyards. We recommend layers, comfortable shoes, and sun protection.
