Since we both love theater, catching a show while you're in town is highly encouraged. The Theater District is packed with incredible productions, from big classics to buzzy new shows. Some of our current favorites: - Ragtime (Lincoln Center) — an epic American story that, despite being written 30 years ago and set 120 years ago, feels highly resonant. Features one of our favorite performers in Joshua Henry! - Operation Mincemeat (Golden Theatre) — hear us out: a five-person slapstick comedy about an MI6 World War II covert operation involving a corpse. Don't watch the movie first. - Buena Vista Social Club (Gerald Schoenfeld Theater) — this isn't your average jukebox musical! It's a loving tribute to a Cuban super group that'll have you dancing in your seat. If you catch this before Sept. 6, you might find yourself recognizing some music at the party! - Titanique (still can't believe this is on Broadway) — super silly, fairly queer!
If you're willing to venture off the beaten path, New York has an unbeatable black box scene. Many of these theaters will have shorter runs, so we're not sure what will still be playing in September, but we promise it'll be fun/wacky/entertaining! Smaller theaters we like: - St. Ann’s Warehouse - Minetta Lane Theater - New York City Center (especially the Encores! series) - SoHo Playhouse - Classic Stage Company - The Irish Rep
This is a Marcus family tradition! Ethan misses his favorite waitress every time he goes back.
Omakase can get really crazy, really fast. This place is the perfect balance between ambience, price and quality.
Our families had a wonderful dinner here after we got engaged in Central Park. We have done many simchas here!
Our favorite bar! Has a fun arcade and feather bowling setup in the back.
Every time we walk through this park, Maya notes the statue of Chester A. Arthur is there because the park is close to the brownstone in which Arthur hid between the assassination of President James Garfield and his death. You should see the statue! It's also a lovely park.
We spent many nights wandering through Dumbo down to the Columbia Street Waterfront. It's gorgeous!
