Maya’s Point of View While I was pregnant I tried to anticipate when Desmond would propose and I’d joke with him, “If I don’t have a ring before this baby comes out, Aiden is getting my last name!” However, that didn’t phase Desmond and he was already planning an unexpected surprise. COVID came and his plans were ruined. He got together with my family and planned a “birthday dinner” for me while I was home in South Carolina and he was “still in Vegas”. I walked into my family’s backyard and was greeted by close friends. I turned around and there he was! He had flew from Vegas a day after me and was hiding at my family’s house awaiting the surprise! His effort and planning made that one of the best moments of my life!

Desmond’s Point of View It was the weekend right before the fall semester started. A few friends and I walked into the cafeteria and we were looking for a place to sit. A friend called me over to his table where two girls were sitting with him. He told me, “Ole girl right here wants to talk to you.” I asked, “Who?” And he pointed at Maya, but she was too shy to speak and just smiled at me. That’s when I said, “Take my number down”, but Maya’s phone was dead so her friend put my number in her phone instead. So I told Maya to just hit me up, and a few hours later she did. Who knew that was only the beginning.
