Onto our forever adventure

Long ago (4 years), in a land far, far away (Somerset, WI the next town over), Maya & Derek spotted each other and hit it off at Logan’s wedding, Maya’s brother. Soon after, they started hiking, socializing, & camping together, quickly realizing how their adventurous spirits flourished with one another. Maya introduces rollerblading to Derek, Derek introduces scuba diving to Maya. Maya introduces Thai food to Derek, Derek introduces his sugar addiction to Maya, & so it goes. Zoom ahead to 2023, things are going smoothly; the adventures continue, communication improves, control over the AUX cord becomes a debate, & love is in the air. All that was missing was a move across the country to a city they have never been to - Austin, Texas. In a bustling city where they knew all of one person (shoutout Log), is where Maya & Derek first moved in together. They learned more about themselves, each other, & their love for brisket. Six months fly by while they spend every waking minute possible outside playing volleyball, pickleball, basketball, ultimate frisbee, hiking, & salsa dancing with strangers that quickly became close friends. Auntie & uncle duties came calling when Logan & Alecia had their first child, Marcello (ring bearer), so Maya & Derek moved back home to be close to the action as family began to grow. They moved to Stillwater, MN & decided that is where they would look for their first home together, after they went on a few more adventures of course. One of their abroad escapades took place in a city called Seville, Spain, where they passed time by drinking tinto de verano, divulging in the tapas culture, & navigating a widespread power outage. Derek planned a day where they roamed the streets early in the morning, got a cappuccino, & walked to a masterpiece of Spanish architecture known as the Plaza de España. Here is where Derek proposed to Maya, Maya easily said ‘yes’, & the rest of the day was a blur. Today, Maya & Derek live in their first home together in Stillwater, MN, where they have expanded their plant collection into a forest, painted the walls anywhere from grenadine pink to peacock blue, & cook all the breakfast burritos their hearts could possibly desire (you are welcome over for burritos absolutely anytime). Along the way, friends & family (you) have shown their support, passion, & wisdom to the couple which has molded them into who they are & who they have yet to be. No words fully capture how grateful they are for where they stand today & for the people whose love & inspiration helped guide them there. Cheers to more adventures & love to come!!
