We met on Pride in 2016, at a moment when we were both stepping more fully into ourselves. Growing up in San Francisco shaped us long before we found each other, and when we did, something about the meeting felt familiar. What took time was learning how to lean into one another, how to listen, and how to move through the world together as a biracial lesbian couple during a complicated moment in history. The beginning was quick and intense. Over time the intensity settled into something steadier. We learned how to return to ourselves and to each other. Loving one another became both an anchor and a way forward. We’ll gather at City Hall and celebrate afterward at Boulevard, places that hold pieces of where we’ve come from and the life we’ve grown into. The spirit of the day is simple: gathering. Good food, real conversation, and a room full of people sharing space for a little while.
